What this site is
melbournemetro.org is an independent guide to Melbourne’s metropolitan trains. It is not the website of PTV or Metro Trains Melbourne, and it is not affiliated with either: we do not sell myki cards or fares and we cannot handle a complaint or a refund.
What we do is put in one place a page for every line and station, fares and myki, timetables, the map and a route planner. The site is funded by advertising.
What the October 2026 review found
On October 11, 2026 we checked every page against official sources, and a lot had changed since the Metro Tunnel opened.
Fares. Under-18s now travel free with a Youth myki, fares are half price until 1 January 2027, and the weekend cap and 7-day pass had risen. We had also described a weekly cap and a refundable card deposit that do not exist.
The network. Sunbury, Cranbourne and Pakenham trains now run through the Metro Tunnel and no longer stop at Flinders Street, Southern Cross or Richmond; Town Hall and Arden are not termini. Every line had been given the same frequency — Stony Point actually runs every 70–120 minutes, with no Night Network.
Station pages. Every station had been marked step-free (Heyington is stairs only), and most carried generic “nearby places” and Park & Ride boxes. We removed what we could not source.
What is live and what is not
Nothing on this site is live. The status board shows each line’s published service span; for disruptions, check the PTV app.
Where each fact comes from
Lines, stations, first and last trains and frequencies: the current PTV timetable feed (GTFS).
Fares: the Victorian Government and PTV.
Accessibility: PTV station information; check before you travel.
When we get it wrong
We fix it and we say what was fixed — this page is the example. If something does not add up, write to [email protected].
Who is behind this site
This site is run by the team at GoRandom, a small group based in the Basque Country in Spain who do two things that go together better than they sound: travel, and build websites.
Melbourne is not yet one of the cities we have set foot in — we are up to twenty and we move slowly. We would rather say so than pretend otherwise: what you read here does not come from our memories, it comes from what the operator publishes and from checking work we can show you.
The other half of what we know how to do is web development, and this site is the excuse to put the two together. We do not leave it sitting there: every fare and every timetable carries its source and the date we checked it, and they get revised when the operator changes something. The last thorough revision was on October 11, 2026, when fares, lines and frequencies were checked against the State Government, PTV and the current PTV timetable feed after the Metro Tunnel opened.

He decides what goes up, checks the data before it does, and answers the email. If you find a fare that has expired or a timetable that no longer holds, there is a specific person to write to.
