Most Melbourne stations have step-free access, tactile guidance and accessible myki readers; staffed “premium” stations also have accessible toilets. Check the PTV station page for the exact facilities and any boarding-ramp assistance before you travel.
Prams and folding bikes are welcome at all times. Full-size bicycles are allowed on Metro trains free of charge outside the busiest peak direction — please keep doorways clear.
You need a myki card (or Mobile myki in Google Pay). Touch on at the myki reader before boarding and touch off when you finish — the whole metropolitan network is one flat fare zone, so a 2-hour fare is the same wherever you travel. Contactless bank-card payment is also rolling out from 2026.
